Ingredients
Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
Fenugreek - 1 teaspoon
Dry red chilli - 3
Turmeric powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
Coriander powder - 1 tablespoon
Pepper powder - 1 teaspoon
Shallots - 6
Garlic - 6
Ginger - 1
Green chilly - 1
Tomato - 1
Tamarind water - 1/2 cup
Oil
Mustard - 1 teaspoon
Salt - 1 teaspoon
Coriander leaves
Curry leaves

Heat a pan. Add coriander powder, pepper powder, cumin seeds , turmeric powder, dry red chilly and fenugreek. Saute it for one to two minutes in medium flame. Switch off the flame. Grind this masala along with tomato, shallots, green chilly, ginger and garlic to a thick paste. In another pan, add one tablespoon of oil. Add mustard to this. Now add the masala paste to it . Let it cook for 2 minutes. Finally add salt, tamarind paste , coriander leaves and curry leaves. Add 1/2 cup of water, if you like little gravy. Switch off the flame after 2 -3 minutes.
It's one of my favourites from my childhood. Often i used to take Rasam and egg burji to school and it's one of my mom's special recipe :). BTW, I forgot to take a good pic. I guess I should post this for my school mates. They used to like my rasam hence specially dedicated this recipe for my school friends :) and of course for me to refer later :)
